Richard Beam, the Director of Public and Community Affairs will be discussing the topic of “Caring for those who shall have borne the battle.” It is the VA Motto and comes from Presidents Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address to the Nation. It was the genesis of our Nation’s commitment to those that were/are injured in the war and it defines the mission of what was to become the VA.
While Richard is not a Veteran, he is the Grandson, Son, Nephew and brother to a Veteran and has had a family member represented in the military since World War I.
