DESCRIPTION:\nEvent registration is now closed. \n \nPresentation by Susan Berkman, JD, CSPG  \n \nPHILANTHROPIC TOOLS & TALES \n \nMany clients want to include a charitable gift in their estate plans. A bequest is the simplest  answer – or is it? The way a bequest is written into legal documents can undo all of a client’s  philanthropic goals, particularly if given to a large charity. Other philanthropic tools, like  charitable remainder trusts or charitable gift annuities have their own risks. This session will  focus on some of the common tools for charitable giving used by estate planners and go over  some of the pitfalls in construction that may mean your client’s wishes cannot be carried out. \n \nSusan Berkman, J.D., CSPG, is an estate planning attorney in private practice. She recently  retired from California State University, Long Beach where she raised more than $170 million in  planned gifts over the past fifteen years. \nThank you to this month's speaker sponsor \n\n \nThank you to our annual sponsors\n \n\n
